"Boys Don't Cry"

For my final assignment in my metals class, I was tasked with creating a piece that told the story of a myth. I chose the myth "boys don't cry." The saying itself is deeply rooted in misogyny, with a message that is harmful not only to boys but also to those surrounding them. Mental health, while becoming a more prevalent topic as the years have gone by, is still seen as a "weakness" to talk about with men. Studies have shown that among men and women, men are most likely to act out on suicidal tendencies.
